Homecoming

This week is homecoming week in Chester and I’m sure all the girls are freaking out and obsessing over the dance. I never really went to the dances in high school, but it is still weird that I am not hearing about it constantly from everyone else.  I went to my freshman homecoming and my senior prom and that was it. I always got so tired of hearing about the dances and how “fun” they were. Both times I went, they were extremely boring and  a total waste of money. Some of these girls spend up to 500 dollars on a dress that they will wea r one time! That is just down right stupid to me. That is not the only thing they have to buy either. They go get their hair and nails done and all pitch in for a limo or party bus of some kind. Although, if they have fun wasting money on a four hour long dance then power to them. I will, however, be going to the parade this Friday. My sister and my niece will probably want to go, so we will most likely go and get lots of candy! I am also excited about the football game Friday. I wasn’t ever excited about the dance but I always look forward to the game!

Blackberry Torch

I got the new Blackberry Torch last week, and it is by far the best phone I have had. I have always used smart phones and have found them to be very convenient. However, this new Blackberry seems to have everything that I use frequently. I love the fact that it is touch screen and has three different keyboard options. It came with tons of free apps, and they are all ones that I use frequently. It has so many things to offer. It sends all of my e-mails, facebook notifications, social feeds of things going on in the world, and much more. I would recommend this phone for anyone who uses the internet a lot. It’s so nice to just get on my phone and take care of whatever I need to. The camera is also very nice. It is a 5 mega pixel and has a good flash.  As smart phone users know, the phone does sometimes run a little slow. I have had no serious problems with it though. It just takes a few seconds to go back to the home screen sometimes. With my other smart phones, it seemed as though I was constantly shutting my phone off because it froze up. I have not had this problem with my Blackberry. In my opinion, this is the best smart phone out there right now. I haven’t had the phone long enough to say that it is great quality or anything, but I know I like this one a lot more than any other phone I have had. It was quite expensive, but very well worth it for me. If you are looking for a good smart phone I would definitely recommend the Blackberry Torch.

Best time of the year is here!

I absolutely love this time of year. During the day, you can wear shorts and be comfortable, and at night you can put on sweats and a hoodie and sit around a bon fire. There is so much to do during the fall. My favorite things to do are riding four wheelers, fishing, going on hayrides, sitting around bon fires, and pretty much anything else outside while the weather is nice. Also, I love when the leaves change colors. It seems to put me in a better mood when everything is all different colors and pretty. My grandparents live on a farm, and I love going out there and just walking through the trails when the leaves have changed colors. Another really fun thing about fall are the haunted houses. The local haunted trails are ok but I like the big haunted houses in St. Louis. I'm pretty much a chicken when it comes to those things but for some odd reason I find them to be a lot of fun. The two things I don’t like about fall is the fact that it’s too cold to swim and also that winter is right around the corner. But, I will enjoy it while it’s here!

Credit Card Debt

I was paying my credit card bill online today, and I wondered how many people were actually dealing with debt due to credit cards. So, I did a little research and found out that the average amount of credit card debt per household is almost 16,000 dollars. Just to give you an idea of how many people have credit cards in the United States, there were 176.8 million people who had credit cards in 2008, and I‘m sure that number has increased over the past two years. Therefore, it shouldn’t be a big surprise that the total amount of credit card debt in the United States, as of June 2010, is 2.42 trillion dollars. Also, of all people who have credit cards, the average number of credit cards each person has is three and a half. I find this hard to believe. It’s unbelievable how many people will continuously rack up more and more credit cards when they know they can’t pay it back. Why would credit card companies keep giving people more and more credit cards when they can’t afford the ones they have? I don’t understand this vicious cycle but obviously it makes money for credit card companies and puts a tremendous amount of people in a financial pinch. I have a credit card so I don’t mean to sound hypocritical, but we should really reconsider spending money that we don’t have.
